At UNLV, Black Mountain provides support for the Elias Ghanem Chair in Creative Writing, which has been occupied by distinguished Nobel Laureates Wole Soyinka and Derek Walcott. Black Mountain also funds the Schaeffer Fellowships for Ph.D. candidates in English who are working on creative dissertations, and offers foreign study grants to select students in the MFA International Program.
